Watch Evita's Rachel Potter Bring a Family to Tears on Today

Eight shows a week, Rachel Potter moves Broadway audiences as a troubled mistress in Evita, but on November 8, she tugged the heartstrings of one mother in particular. With the guidance of Today Show co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, Potter helped teenager Ashley Flewellen surprise her cancer survivor mother Frances, who adopted Flewellen as a baby. Potter sang “Without You,” a touching ballad composed by Gifford and David Friedman (who also composed the new Broadway musical Scandalous).
